Melody Walkup PT, DPT

Doctor of Physical Therapy

Mel was first introduced to physical therapy in high school when she started experiencing knee pain while playing soccer. PT completely eliminated her pain. How cool that movement could lead to healing! This was her first taste of what physical therapy could provide, and from that point on she made it her mission to learn how to provide this same type of relief to others. Mel got her B.S. in Exercise Physiology at West Virginia University in 2013 before earning her Doctorate in Physical Therapy at the University of Miami in 2017. She worked in orthopedic outpatient care for 2 years in Maryland prior to starting travel physical therapy for the next 6.5 years which led her to contract work in California, Oregon, Washington, Alaska, Hawaii, and Colorado working in both home health and outpatient settings. She interacted with many different types of patients, pathologies, injuries, and cultures during this time which greatly improved her adaptability and skillset as a PT. She felt connected to Colorado during her time there and decided to leave travel PT for a permanent role with Integral Physical Therapy.

Mel's approach to PT involves thoroughly analyzing the body and the various components involved in movement and pain patterns. She then individualizes the plan of care to match what the patient needs to move better and return to the activities they love.

Main areas of expertise: orthopedic care (includes treating pain in the extremities and spine), gait, balance, and orthopedic post op care. She also has experience treating neurologic conditions (i.e. post-stroke, Parkinson’s Disease, multiple sclerosis).

Mel's favorite hobbies are hiking, running, seeing new places, and spending time around a campfire with friends.
