He grew up in the desert of Palm Springs, CA playing competitive soccer, basketball, and golf. It was an injury from soccer that introduced him to physical therapy and allowed him to avoid surgery. He started working as a technician in physical therapy clinics while he was in high school and became enthralled with the profession. After his undergraduate, Ian worked for three years as a clinic manager and lead technician in an outpatient orthopedic physical therapy clinic. He moved to Colorado in 2018 to attend Regis University.

Outside of physical therapy, Ian enjoys spending time with his lovely wife, Laurel, and their pets. Some of his favorite activities include hiking, cooking, golfing, and reading. He also enjoys challenging himself with weight training in the gym, high-intensity interval training, and road biking.
